Why Does the Holocaust Matter Today? (Post-production conversation)
December 10 @ 7:00 pm
This talk will take place after the Broadway play Here There Are Blueberries.
As the generation that witnessed the Holocaust passes from living memory, what responsibility (and opportunity) does its history place on us today? And how do we draw contemporary meaning from the Holocaust without distorting its history or instrumentalizing its suffering? David Goldman, founder and chair of FASPE, leads a conversation about the enduring relevance of—and the risks of universalizing—the Holocaust with Dr. Jens Jokisch, German Consul General in New York, and Vardit Ravitsky, one of the world’s leading bioethicists and President and CEO of The Hastings Center. Together, they bring distinctly different perspectives to a fundamental question: What does the Holocaust ask of us now?
