Project Manager and Research Assistant
Briana Lopez-Patino joined The Hastings Center in August 2023. She received her BA from Binghamton University with a major in philosophy.
She was a research assistant in the Human Sexualities Lab investigating archival materials related to the Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC). Her research focused on the sociocultural impact of AIDs and correlations between queer identification and political ideology in young adult women. She also worked as a research assistant and trainee at the Berman Institute of Bioethics at Johns Hopkins University, where she focused on the ethical concerns of chimeric research reported on popular news media sites. Her senior honors thesis focused on the roles of autonomy and informed consent in the disclosure process of terminal genetic disorders in adolescents.
