We have identified five broad areas where the national and global community face serious challenges. These categories have some overlap and do not cover every research project Hastings will undertake, but we believe that these are the areas that most need our sustained attention.
Our aim is not only to look closely at the practical ethical questions prompted by these five challenges, but also to widen our focus to consider the implications on fundamental questions of humanity. Only by doing both will we be able to better wield science and technology to improve the health and quality of life of our global community.
