AI and Aging Societies: The Ethics of Thinking about Problems and Solutions

February 19 @ 11:00 am 12:15 pm

Hastings Center Senior Research Scholar Nancy Berlinger will give a virtual presentation at the International Seminar, The Initiative for Responsible AI in Medicine, Tel Aviv University. Her talk will consider population aging and AI as concurrent social phenomena that influence narratives about problems and solutions. What are the ethical implications of framing AI as a “solution” to longer lifespans, aging-associated cognitive and physical decline, smaller families, and shrinking social networks? She will consider the limits of AI ethics in thinking about this question, and what other normative approaches may be useful in medicine and in aging societies.

NOTE: this is a virtual event that takes place 11:00 am – 12:15 pm EST.
