The Hastings Center and the Cunniff-Dixon Foundation are pleased to announce two new $25,000 awards to honor outstanding care provided by hospice and palliative care nurses to patients nearing the end of life, based on compassionate service and merit.  The awards were created and are made possible through the generosity of the Cunniff-Dixon Foundation and in partnership with The Hastings Center.

The year 2022 marks the inaugural year for the Hastings Center Cunniff-Dixon Nursing Awards. One of the awards will go to a nurse providing outpatient or inpatient care and the other will go to a nurse working in hospice and home care.

The nomination deadline is January 31, 2022.

“These consummate professionals are going above and beyond providing the kind of quality care near the end of life that we all wish for ourselves and our loved ones. It’s a privilege to recognize them,” stated Andy Baxter, Founder of the Cunniff-Dixon Foundation.

The Awards Committee is comprised of Dr. Betty Ferrell, Director of Nursing Research and Education and Professor at City of Hope Medical Center; Dr. Ashley Leak Bryant, Associate Professor of Nursing, at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; Dr. Billy De Rosa, Chief Research Fellow, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center; Dr. Cynthia Rushton, an international leader in nursing ethics at Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics and the School of Nursing; Dr. Margaret Campbell, Professor, College of Nursing, Wayne State University; and Dr. Nessa Coyle, consultant in palliative, end of life care, and clinical ethics for oncology patients.
