    Bruce Jennings, Senior Advisor

    Bruce Jennings is a political scientist whose research spans a wide range of subjects, including environmental ethics, health policy, and end-of-life care. He is an adjunct associate professor at Vanderbilt University’s Center for Biomedical Ethics and a senior fellow at the Center for Humans and Nature, a nonprofit research center that studies environmental ethics and policy. He was executive director of The Hastings Center from 1991 to 1999 and is a Hastings Center Fellow. He has been a consultant to several governmental and private organizations.

    Jennings has written and edited 20 books, including Ecological Governance: Toward a New Social Contract with the Earth (2016), Emergency Ethics: Public Health Preparedness and Response (2016),  Regulating Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis in the United States: The Limits of Unlimited Selection (2015), and The Hastings Center Guidelines for Decisions on Life-Sustaining Treatment and Care Near the End of Life (2013).

    He is an investigator on Hastings Center projects on the role of values in impact assessment and the social and ethical implications of using gene editing on the human germline.

    He received a B.A. from Yale University and an M.A. from Princeton University.
