Families & Traumatic Brain Injury
January 2001 - December 2002
The Hastings Center, in collaboration with the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, is exploring the ways in which caregivers and family members also suffer the misfortunes that have befallen those who sustain traumatic brain injuries, and share transformed and uncertain futures. The goal is to recommend changes in policy, clinical management, and support services to improve response to the needs of families and their stricken loved ones.
In addition to regular meetings of the working group, the project has launched an educational program for clinicians and other professionals in conjunction with The University of Chicago, the Rehabilitation Institute, and the University of Illinois at Chicago.
