Hospice Access & Values

January 2001 - June 2003

The Hastings Center and the National Hospice Work Group, in association with the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, are collaborating to improve access to quality end of life care. "Hospice Access & Values" has been examining how public policy and financing systems impede delivery of services that reflect the values of hospice and the preferences of the American public. The project team has identified the implications for improving access to quality end of life care in a rapidly changing health care system, and has completed an analysis of policy issues concerning access to humane and compassionate care at the end of life. A final paper and recommendations will be published in 2003 and widely disseminated.
