Description of institution:  Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, one of the nation’s preeminent academic medical centers, is an integrated health care system that operates 1,187 acute care, rehabilitation, and long-term care beds in addition to providing community health services. Its primary service area is a region comprised of twenty-six counties in North Carolina and southwest Virginia. Description of position: The Department of Internal Medicine, Wake Forest University School of Medicine, seeks applications for the Wallace and Mona Wu Chair in Biomedical Ethics, an endowed professorship at the rank of associate or full professor. The successful candidate will be expected to devote substantial time to scholarly work in clinical ethics, including publication and independent and collaborative research; on teaching, mentoring, and curriculum development for medical students, residents, postdoctoral fellows, and others in clinical ethics; and on collaboration with Internal Medicine faculty and WFU’s Program in Bioethics, Health, and Society on research, teaching, service, and outreach relating to clinical biomedical ethics. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Requirements: Candidates for this position should have an MD or PhD degree or equivalent, demonstrated excellence in medical education, and a distinguished scholarly record in academic biomedical ethics.
