Visiting Fellow
Centre for Biomedical EthicsThe Centre for Biomedical Ethics of the National University of Singapore (NUS) is launching a new programme of undergraduate medical ethics education in August 2008. This will coincide with a full revision of the MBBS curriculum at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS. Medical Ethics will be a longitudinal track running through all five years of the curriculum. In the first 4 weeks of year one (August 2008) there will be a substantial introduction to medical ethics, running parallel to biomedical science inputs and integrated with clinical visits and medicine and society inputs.
We are looking for a person with experience of medical ethics teaching to join our team from late July or early August 2008 for a minimum of 6 months (ideally 12 months) as a Visiting Fellow. This person will take overall charge of the new ethics curriculum, as well as doing some teaching. Our current team consists of three adjunct medical staff (one with legal training also) and over 30 clinical tutors. Alistair Campbell directs the Centre, and we also have an Assistant Professor in charge of Postgraduate Studies and Research and several research staff.
This position could suit a person going on sabbatical leave (or taking unpaid leave). There should be ample time for private study and research. It might also suit a retired academic teacher of medical ethics. We can offer an attractive package, which will include travel, accommodation (or accommodation allowance) and an honorarium appropriate to seniority.
For more information, please contact Alistair V. Campbell at medavc@nus.edu.sg.
