The Hastings Center Report Available Online
The full content of the Hastings Center Report can be accessed online, starting with the January-February 2004 issue. The online edition of the Report is easier both to receive, especially for readers overseas, and to retain. The online offering includes a running archive of all issues that have been printed online, providing online subscribers with instant access to all of the Report's articles, essays, columns, book reviews, and departments dating back to January 2004.
The online version of the Report is available in "smart PDF," a low-cost and easily accessed format that has become the authoritative for journals. The online version mimics the print version, making it simpler both to cite information in the Report and to locate information in the Report that is cited elsewhere. The online version is "smart" because it is full-text searchable and the citations include active links to other material available on the Internet.
With the introduction of its online service, the Hastings Center provides three kinds of subscriptions to the Report: print-only, online-only, and combined print and online. Online-only subscriptions are available for $66 per year—$10 off print-only subscriptions. Combined online and print are available for $86. Separate rates apply to institutions.
Current print subscribers interested in switching to online-or in adding online—can do so immediately—without waiting for their current subscription period to end-for a fee of $10. (We are unable to offer partial refunds on current print subscriptions that readers wish to discontinue, however.)
The online service is hosted by Ingenta, a leading provider of academic and professional publications on the Internet. Click here for more information about signing up for the service.
