Distinguished Bioethics Faculty Position

Description of institution: Wake Forest University is a private university offering a liberal arts education, professional degrees, and other postgraduate programs. It has about 4,300 undergraduate students and 2,500 graduate and professional students. Its academic programs are consistently ranked in the top tiers nationally.
Description of position: Wake Forest University seeks a distinguished scholar in bioethics to fill a newly-created position at the rank of full professor (with tenure). The successful candidate will play a leading role in developing an interdisciplinary, campus-wide Bioethics Center of national prominence and may be considered for directorship of the Center or one of its component programs if interested and qualified. Exceptionally qualified candidates may also be considered for a chair appointment.
The primary appointment will be in a department relevant to the candidate’s discipline within the College of Arts & Sciences. The area of specialization within bioethics is open, though expertise in biotechnology or bioscience issues is especially welcome. This new faculty member will join other bioethics faculty currently in the College and in the Schools of Law and Medicine. Teaching responsibilities will include courses in the home department and in a planned Masters in Bioethics program.
Requirements: Candidates may come from any of the liberal arts, humanities, or sciences. Applications by female and minority candidates are strongly encouraged.
