BY AUTO

The Hastings Center is located on Route 9D in Garrison, New York. Access to the Center property is via Malcolm Gordon Road directly off Route 9D, a road running north-south along the east bank of the Hudson River. The entrance to The Hastings Center is on the west side of 9D and is marked by a large sign. There are no numbered street addresses on 9D in this area. The Center is located approximately 3 miles south of the village of Cold Spring and approximately 7 miles north of the Bear Mountain Bridge. Landmark on 9D: from the south The Hastings Center sign is somewhat obscured by a bend in the road and it is easy to drive past the entrance. Look for a Gulf gas station sign, the Garrison Market, and the Garrison Post Office on your left as you drive northbound on 9D; the Center entrance is less than 1 mile beyond that point.

FROM THE SOUTH

Via I-95 (New Jersey Turnpike): Take I-95 North to the Palisades Interstate Parkway: Follow I-95 North toward the George Washington Bridge. As you approach the bridge stay in the local lane and follow signs for the Lower Level of the GWB. Stay in the left-hand lane after the ramp divides for the lower level. Off the exit, follow signs for the Palisades Interstate Parkway (left at first stop light; bearing right onto parkway entrance ramp beyond third stop light). Take the Palisades Interstate Parkway North to the Bear Mountain Bridge eastbound. Cross the bridge (toll: $1) and turn left onto Route 9D North. Follow Route 9D North approximately 7 miles to Hastings Center entrance, or Malcolm Gordon Road, on left.

FROM NEW YORK CITY

Via the George Washington Bridge: From Manhattan cross the George Washington Bridge to the Palisades Interstate Parkway North to the Bear Mountain Bridge (toll: $1). Cross the bridge and turn left onto Route 9D North. Follow Route 9D North approximately 7 miles to Hastings Center entrance, or Malcolm Gordon Road, on left.

Approximate travel time from George Washington Bridge: 50 minutes

Via the Henry Hudson Parkway or FDR: Take the Henry Hudson Parkway–Saw Mill River Parkway North (from the West Side) or the I-87 (Major Deegan Expressway)–Sprain Brook Parkway North (from the East Side) to the interchange with the Taconic State Parkway North. Follow the Taconic State Parkway North to Route 9A North to Croton-on-Hudson, where it becomes Route 9 North. Continue on Route 9 North to Route 403 in Garrison. Follow Route 403 to stop light and turn right onto Route 9D North. Take Route 9D North approximately 1.5 miles to Hastings Center entrance on left.

Approximate travel time from Manhattan bridges: 1 hour 40 minutes

FROM THE NORTH

Via I-87 (New York Thruway): Follow I-87 south to I-84. Take I-84 East to Route 9 South. Route 9 South to Route 301 West (Cold Spring) Route 301 West to Route 9D South. Follow 9D South for approximately 3 miles to Hastings Center entrance, or Malcolm Gordon Road, on right.

Via the Taconic State Parkway: Follow Taconic State Parkway South to Route 301 (Cold Spring). Route 301 West to Route 9D South. Follow 9D South for approximately 3 miles to Hastings Center entrance, or Malcolm Gordon Road, on right.

FROM THE WEST

Via I-84: Take I-84 East to Route 9 South. Route 9 South to Route 301 West (Cold Spring). Route 301 West to Route 9D South. Follow 9D South for approximately 3 miles to Hastings Center entrance, or Malcolm Gordon Road, on right.

Via I-287 or I-80: Follow these routes to the Palisades Interstate Parkway. Take the Palisades Interstate Parkway North to the Bear Mountain Bridge. Cross the bridge (toll: $1) and turn left (North) on Route 9D. Follow 9D North approximately 7 miles to the Hastings Center entrance, or Malcolm Gordon Road, on left. from the East

Via I-84: Take I-84 West to Route 9 South. Follow Route 9 South to Route 301 West (Cold Spring). Route 301 West to Route 9D South. Follow 9D South for approximately 3 miles to Hastings Center entrance, or Malcolm Gordon Road, on right.

Via I-95 (Connecticut Turnpike): Follow I-95 to I-287 West across the Tappan Zee Bridge to the Palisades Parkway North; Follow the Palisades Parkway North to the Bear Mountain Bridge. Cross the Bear Mountain Bridge and turn left (North) on Route 9D. Follow 9D North approximately 7 miles to the Hastings Center entrance, or Malcolm Gordon Road, on left.

BY TRAIN

Metro North commuter service is available from Grand Central Station to Garrison on the Hudson Line. Trains leave Grand Central approximately every hour (check schedule for departure times); fares vary during peak and nonpeak hours of travel. The trip takes approximately 1 hour 30 minutes; some departures change trains at Croton-on-Hudson. There is no taxi service available at the Garrison station—be sure to alert Center staff to your arrival time so that a car can be sent to meet you. BY PLANE

The Hastings Center can be reached through five airports, the closest of which is Stewart International Airport in Newburgh, N.Y. Flight schedules into Stewart may be limited and fares may be somewhat higher than for Westchester County Airport (White Plains, N.Y.), Newark International Airport, LaGuardia Airport, or Kennedy Airport. The most convenient major metropolitan destination is Newark International Airport (Newark, N.J.). Approximate travel times:

Stewart International: 40 minutes
Westchester County: 1 hour
Newark International: 1 hour 20 minutes
LaGuardia: 1 hour 40 minutes
Kennedy International: 2 hours

Limousine service by Hudson Valley Limo (1-877-541-5466) can be arranged for passengers arriving at Westchester, Newark, LaGuardia, or Kennedy. Limousine service from Stewart is available through Solo Motor Cars (1-800-426-7656).

Limousine drivers will meet incoming passengers in the baggage pick-up area, displaying a sign with the passenger’s name. If the driver is not waiting, please call the limousine service directly for assistance. It is important to arrange the details of your arrival and departure (airline, flight number, time) in advance with a member of the Center’s staff.
