The NIH, Clinical Center, Bioethics Department is seeking a research-oriented individual for an exciting tenure-eligible or tenure-track position at the largest hospital in the world totally dedicated to translational clinical research. An M.D. or Ph.D. with a track record of 5 years or more of empirical research and scholarship in bioethics or a related field is needed to conduct empirical and conceptual research on bioethical issues, train and mentor bioethics fellows, participate in clinical consultation and on an NIH institutional review board as well as in other departmental activities and activities and clinical research protocols of the NIH Intramural Research Program.
The applicant will be expected to develop and lead a program of research in the area of bioethics. The position includes protected research time with core funding for empirical projects. The position involves mentoring fully-funded bioethics fellows and participation and supervision on the Bioethics Consultation Service. The Department is looking for a scholar interested in and experienced with research in bioethical issues and, in particular, applicants whose research interests include global health, neuro-ethics, clinical research ethics, clinical ethics, the ethics of health policy and/or the ethics of emerging technologies.
