Hastings Center Fellows are an elected association of leading researchers influential in the fields in which the Center is engaged. Individuals who have made a distinguished contribution in these fields are recommended annually by the Fellows Nominating Committee of the Fellows Council, the Center’s President and senior staff. The Center’s Board of Directors elects the new Fellows from this list of nominees.
The Fellows Council consists of eight Fellows, elected for two year terms, renewable once, and the Center’s President, as a nonvoting participant. The Council is responsible for facilitating Fellows’ involvement with the work of the Center; for ascertaining Fellows’ ideas for work in which the Center should engage; for encouraging Fellows to become active participants in projects and meetings; for arranging nomination of new Fellows, appointing a Fellows Nominating Committee and the election of the Fellows Council. The Chair and Vice Chair of the Council are voting members of the Center’s Board of Directors. Dr. Anita L. Allen is current Fellow Chair.
